IAQ COMMISSIONING

FACT: according to the US Department of Energy, the average building loses 30% of its heating & cooling energy through leaking ducts.

Commissioning is a systematic and documented process to verify and ensure that fundamental buildings elements and systems are designed, installed, and calibrated to operate as intended.

Energy modeling utilizes computer software to simulate the building's energy consumption and can be used as a design tool. Performance-testing the building early on in the design process will lead to better choices regarding lighting, HVAC, and building orientation and provide opportunities to reduce the energy consumption of the building.

Retrocommissioning is the application of this process to existing buildings to maximize their operating potential.

IAQ Commissioning applies the commissioning process with the goal of ensuring acceptable Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). Depending on the needs and goals of the building manager, various standards or guidelines can be applied. The Environmental Protection Agency, World Health Organization, and Indoor Air Quality Association have published recommendations for airborne particle mass, volatile organic compounds and gases such as carbon dioxide and formaldehyde.

ESG provides IAQ Commissioning services for nearly any size building.
