Craig Whittaker, President Show/Hide Craig's Biography

Craig serves as President of ESG Energy in Greensboro, North Carolina. Dr. Whittaker's experience includes 16 years in the environmental health and safety field, however, he has always had a strong interest in sustainable living. He has performed over 1400 property assessments, developed several hundred remedial plans for medical, commercial and residential buildings, participates in research projects for HUD and the EPA, and has provided expert witness testimony. Dr. Whittaker has appeared as a guest on IAQ Radio, has authored numerous articles and technical papers and has presented his research at national conferences.
Dr. Whittaker has earned undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees, and studied environmental law at UNC-Chapel Hill. He currently serves on the executive committee for the Triad Green Building Council and the research committee for Sustainable Greensboro.
Dr. Whittaker has a passion for educating property owners about the environmental choices we all make and how they affect those around us. He is committed to assisting those who suffer from indoor environmental illness related to poor indoor air quality. Dr. Whittaker is a Council-certified Indoor Environmentalist (#0608030), certified Healthy Homes Specialist (#9004391), BPI-Certified Building Analyst (#5025524) and Certified Mycometer-test user and interpreter. Walt Schnabel, Environmental Investigator Show/Hide Walt's Biography

Walt is an environmental investigator with ESG. Walt has more than fifteen years of experience with both residential construction and the property management industry. A BPI-certified Building Analyst, Walt has a special interest in sustainable building practices. He serves on committees and volunteers in the community with groups seeking input on eco-friendly building and development.
Mr. Schnabel recently collaborated with a team of consultants to research, market and launch an environmentally conscious, mixed-use development that will feature green building and energy efficient homes along with incorporating sustainable living practices. While living in Asheville, NC, Walt successfully developed and launched a property management firm for long-distance property owners.
Walt holds a degree in Urban Studies from DePaul University and is a Certified Residential Mold Inspector (CRMI). Walt and his wife Kathryn choose to live near downtown Greensboro with their trusty dog, Elsa May. E-mail Walt Schnabel

Steven Armstrong, Senior Building Analyst Show/Hide Steven's Biography

Steven is a senior building analyst, HERS Rater, RESNET Quality Assurance Designee/Trainer and Green Build Verifier with ESG. Steve joined ESG in 2005 and brought over 20 years of professional experience in the fields of energy analysis and environmental science. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in hydrogeology, geology and geochemistry, and has worked for the Department of Energy in addition to a myriad of state, local, federal, tribal governments and universities. Nearly all these positions have had a focus on the handling of contaminants within the environment and the potential risk they pose to human health.
Steve has a very strong background in both the residential and commercial construction industry. This knowledge base provides ESG with a more thorough understanding of construction methods and issues facing contractors as they transition to developing and building sustainable structures. Steve also has extensive experience in sample collection procedure and protocol, as well as analytical methodologies and data interpretation.
Steve is certified by the Building Performance Institute as a Building Analyst and Building Envelope professional, by RESNET as a HERS Rater, and by the National Association of Home Builders as a Green Build Verifier. Jeff Stallings, Mechanical Systems Analyst Show/Hide Jeff's Biography

Jeff brings over 30 years of experience in life cycle cost analysis, commercial building audits and mechanical systems design/build to ESG Energy. With a specialty in energy efficient design and indoor air quality, Jeff has designed, implemented and managed everything from simple ventilation equipment on up to extremely complex and 'green' mechanical systems in large commercial, church and industrial buildings.
Jeff has served as an instructor of continuing education courses in Energy Saving HVAC Design and Commercial and Industrial Ventilation Methods at North Carolina State University. He worked as an engineer at AC Corporation and RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company prior to purchasing Gwyn Electric, Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Company in 2002.

Brad Fletcher, Building Analyst Show/Hide Brad's Biography

Brad, the most recent addition to the ESG team, serves as a Home Energy Rater, NAHB Green Build Verifier, and BPI-certified Building Analyst. With a Bachelor of Science degree from Montreat College in Environmental Studies, Brad has a passion for the environment and an altruistic enthusiasm to create sustainable homes for people in our community.
Brad's knowledge and experience stems from a lineage of three generations of new homebuilders, which allows him the competence to comfortably operate within the building community.
In his spare time, Brad enjoys exploring the outdoors, playing disc golf, or gardening with his fiancee, Anne.

Dan Whittaker, Field Assistant Show/Hide Dan's Biography

Dan serves as a field assistant with ESG Energy. He began working in the environmental field in 2006 as a remediation technician and joined ESG in 2008, where he assists with home energy audits and air quality assessments.
Dan has a strong interest in unusual weather conditions, and is a Skywarn Certified Storm Spotter. After taking some time off from college to gain practical work experience with ESG, Dan is planning to begin studying meteorology and mega storm system analysis at NC State University.
In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time outdoors and has planned his second trip with the NC Storm Squad to Kansas in May of 2011. E-mail Dan Whittaker

Anna Pinks, Administrative Services Manager Show/Hide Anna's Biography

Anna is originally from Asheville, NC and graduated from Guilford College in 2007. Prior to joining ESG, she gained management experience in the academic and retail sectors. At ESG Energy, Anna serves as a sustainability consultant and administrative services manager for the energy and environmental teams.
Besides working with energy clients, Anna links ESG Energy with both local and national non-profits and sustainability initiatives. She has completed coursework offered through the Natural Step, a non-profit educational organization dedicated to sustainable practices in business and society. Anna volunteers with Sustainable Greensboro, part of Sustainable North Carolina, and has been key to ESG's attaining Mover status in the GreenPlus certification program.
