ESG's Larry Oppegaard is nationally certified for Radon testing (104561RT) and for the design and installation of Radon reduction hardware (103848RMT)
- radon occurs naturally in the soil
- homes and other buildings actually enhance radon concentrations
- buildings can be made radon resistant during or after construction
- radon causes lung cancer
- the EPA's action level of four picocuries per liter of air (4pCi/L) does not imply that levels below 4 pCi/L are safe
From the 2010 report by the President's Cancer Panel:
"Comparative risk assessments by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and its Science Advisory Board have consistently ranked radon among the top four environmental risks to the public."
The Report concludes that the government, which has traditionally tried to reduce the incidence of cancer by encouraging medical screenings, should pay more attention to the environment to include increasing awareness about radon.
Please contact us if you need radon testing or would like more information on our radon services.
We invite you to watch a 1-minute video called Eddie's Story about how radon can unknowingly cause serious harm. If you are interested in more detail, this 4-minute video from the EPA is very helpful.
